Do I need a doctor's note to see a Physiotherapist, Massage Therapist, or Acupuncturist? In Ontario, you do not need a doctor’s referral to see a Registered Physiotherapist, Registered Massage Therapist or Registered Acupuncturist. However, some insurance companies and benefit plans may require a letter from your doctor. If this is the case, you are still able to begin treatment before you obtain your referral.
-
Do you provide direct billing?YES WE DO! At Generations Physiotherapy Centre, we try to take the added stress of billing off your hands. We bill directly to most insurers. Please feel free to contact us to inquire about yours. For companies that do not allow us to bill directly, we always provide a detailed receipt with all the information required for you to submit to your insurance provider.
-
Will OHIP cover my treatment?Generations Physiotherapy Centre is a private physiotherapy facility. As a result, we are not OHIP funded and cannot bill treatments through OHIP.
-
What should I wear?We typically suggests wearing comfortable clothes which allow the therapist access to your area of concern. Shorts are appropriate for assessing and treating hips, knees, and ankles. A t-shirt would be suitable for assessing and treating shoulders, elbows, and wrists. If you are uncertain about what to wear, feel free to contact us prior to your appointment; and if you forget, don’t worry! We have lovely disposable shorts available upon request.
-
Am I still able to attend Generations Physiotherapy Centre even if my doctor or insurance company has referred me to a different clinic?Absolutely! You always have the right to choose what clinic you go to and what therapist you see.
-
What should I expect during my first Physiotherapy appointment? You will experience a friendly, caring and relaxed environment, starting with filling out initial paperwork. After which you will have a one-on-one assessment with your therapist, who will conduct a thorough history and physical assessment. Following this your condition/injury will be explained to you and your questions answered. Depending on the complexity of your condition/injury some treatment may be initiated on the initial visit. If time does not allow for this some form of home management/exercise will be provided to begin the rehabilitation process at home prior to your next visit.
-
Are Massage treatments held in private rooms?Yes. We have four fully private treatment rooms as well as our open concept treatment / exercise area.
-
Am I required to wear a mask? While we encourage mask wearing due to the close contact nature of all therapies, you are not required to wear one.
